Investing in socially impactful carbon offset projects

A participant in carbon markets since 2007, last year alone, we traded over 80 million metric tons of carbon. Our growing portfolio of carbon offset projects include mature projects across Africa.

We only pursue projects that have a high social impact and tangible co-benefits for people and the environment. This means that as well as the climate benefits of avoided emissions, our projects seek to improve the quality of life in the local communities we operate in.

Vitol Foundation

Vitol first began making charitable grants in 2002 and established the Vitol Foundation in 2006. The Vitol Foundation aims to make a difference in the lives of people around the world trapped in poverty by supporting organisations and programmes that can take children and families in the poorest communities out of the vicious cycle of multi-dimensional poverty.

In African alone, we fund over 100 projects across 34 different countries. Our efforts are focused on five key themes: education, enterprise and livelihoods, health, humanitarian and emergency relief and water, sanitation and health (WASH).  Visit Vitol Foundation to read more about us.

We invest in high quality socially impactful carbon projects with tangible co-benefits for people and the environment

Built into our trading model is a growing portfolio of carbon offset projects, with mature projects already in action in Africa.

Investing directly in a project is the best way to assure a project’s quality and optimise a project’s design. All of our projects are certified by leading voluntary offset standards ensuring our carbon credits are high-quality.
