Vortex Energy, a leading renewables company in Poland owned by Vitol, has appointed Wojciech Orzech as CEO. Wojciech has over 20 years’ experience in energy and infrastructure. Most recently he was CEO of PKP Energetyka, a portfolio company of CVC Capital Partners, one of the largest energy companies in Poland and the supplier of power to Poland’s rail network.
As CEO, Wojciech will work with the management team to consolidate Vortex’s position as a leader in renewable energy in Poland and a low-emission IPP. To date, Vortex has delivered over 450MW of operational renewable generation capacity in wind and solar. It has 110MW of projects under construction and a development pipeline of over 3GW of wind and solar, and 2GW of battery energy storage. It is looking to accelerate the development of renewable generation across Poland and is deploying capital and expertise to this end.

Prior to PKP Energetyka, Wojciech was CEO of Energa, one of the top four energy companies in Poland, distributing power to over 2.9 million customers. He began his career in insurance sector with Hestia. He has a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Gdansk and graduated from Stanford University Business School Executive Programme in 2023.
