Vitol today announced that the first shipment of LPG has been safely delivered to the brand new Navgas LPG terminal, in the port of Lagos. The terminal is owned 50% by Vitol and 50% by Nidogas, its local partner and comprises two LPG spheres with a total capacity of 16,000 cbm.. The spheres and the loading racks will provide LPG for the large, growing Nigerian domestic market, providing safer and cleaner energy to replace more traditional energy sources such as wood and kerosene.

Access to the terminal is via a single jetty, with a maximum draft of 11.5 metres.

Rob Nijst, CEO of Vitol Tank terminals International (VTTI), said “Today is a really important day for consumers in Nigeria and for Navgas. We will now be able to make available cleaner energy, in the form of LPG, to domestic consumers and replace more labour intensive and dirtier fuels. Navgas is a state of the art facility, incorporating all the latest design features, to ensure the safe reception and delivery of LPG. We are delighted to be able to serve our Nigerian customers from this new facility. Navgas is a great addition to the growing worldwide portfolio of VTTI”.
