Renewables
Developing sustainable energy solutions for communities worldwide.
Sustainable energy solutions.
Renewables are an important part of the energy mix. They have reached an efficiency and scale where they can be used commercially, both in localised and large-scale grid projects. Over time, energy demand will shift from hydrocarbons to power where solar and wind are well placed to compete. To date, Vitol has invested in a range of renewables projects, including wind, solar, and renewable natural gas, and continues to seek opportunities across geographies.

Wind
We are investing in large-scale wind projects in Europe and beyond.
Solar
A growing portfolio in diverse geographies and serving both local communities and wider grid demand.
Biofuel
An active role in the marketing and distribution of both biodiesel and bioethanol, integrating our specialist knowledge with energy supply chains to deliver a broad range of compliant product.
Renewable Natural Gas
We are investing in bio digester projects across the US converting waste to energy.
CCS
We are a key partner in a large-scale CCS project to decarbonise energy-intensive industries in the north east of England.
A growing portfolio of renewables around the world.

Wind farm in Ukraine
We are invested in one of Ukraine’s largest wind farms in southern Ukraine which will deliver 500 MW of wind, capable of powering more than 780,000 homes.

Solar colleges
We focus on localised projects of all sizes working with communities and schools in their transition to solar; our solar rooftop and parking canopy system at Ramapo College, New Jersey can generate 5.1 MW of solar energy.
Humber Zero
Humber Zero is an industry-led project to remove over 40 MT/CO2 every year by 2040 from the wider Humber and create a low carbon industrial future for the region.

Ben Moreell Solar Farm
The Ben Moreell Solar Farm has been operational since December 2019. It is capable of producing 28.5 MW of power, making it the largest solar plant project in New Jersey.

Biodigester
Our largest biodigester in the US is located in Jerome, Idaho. Integrated into a large diary farm with over 15,000 cows, the biodigester is capable of converting 350,000 tonnes of manure a day into 700 mcf of bio-methane and has been operational since October 2019.
Vitol Biofuels
Vitol Biofuels is involved in the marketing and distrubiton of over 250 millions gallons of ethanol from plant producers in the US annually.
