Arawak Energy is the operator of all but one of its assets in Russia, which are mainly located within the Arctic Circle in the southern Timan-Pechora Basin in the Komi Republic, 1,500 km northeast of Moscow. The first field in this prolific basin was discovered around 1930 and today there are more than 250 fields identified or in production in the area.
Our two main producing assets, Sotchemyu-Talyu and North Irael, are held through a 50% interest in the joint venture RF Energy Investments Limited (RF Energy). We also operate one other production and four exploration blocks, South Sotchemyu, Prichalny, East Kamensky, North Zeleneborsk and South Kadzherom which are held through our 100%-owned subsidiary, OOO Kosyuneft.
In February 2010, Arawak Energy exercised an option, through an AMI agreement with PetroNeft Resources plc, to take a 50% non-operated interest in Ledovy Licence 67 in the Tomsk Oblast. The Ledovy licence lies in the highly prolific West Siberian Basin, the FSU’s largest oil and gas producing region in terms of both area and recoverable reserves.
Our net production in Russia totalled 1.47 million barrels, or 4,023 bopd, in 2010 representing a 5% CAGR since 2005.
Our main centre of operations is in the industrial city of Ukhta to the south of our fields and we also run an office in Moscow for marketing, administrative and finance functions.
