At Vitol we are committed to operating as good corporate citizens, with due deference to people, good governance, ethical conduct, social responsibility and the environment.
Our responsibility to people
As employers we offer equal opportunities to all throughout the world, regardless of race or gender. We welcome applications from people with disabilities, and work to ensure that all our workplaces offer good, safe working environments.
We further believe that all Vitol employees have the right to be treated with respect and dignity, and we apply the same principles to all dealings with our business partners.
Safety and the environment
Vitol is focused on the highest standards of safety and to minimise where possible the impact of our operations on the environment.
This includes exercising great care in the way that we handle physical oil cargoes, chartering appropriate vessels from professional and experienced shipping companies. We use the services of independent inspectors to ensure that all operations are properly completed and that our products meet all specifications. We use high quality terminal facilities which are regularly inspected by our own superintendents. We ensure that all oil movements are covered by first class insurance.
The Vitol Charitable Foundation
The Vitol Charitable Foundation receives significant annual funding from the company, enabling its work in supporting areas of severe deprivation around the world. In particular, the Foundation has financed projects which benefit young children in Asia, Africa, Latin America, CIS and Eastern Europe.
The focus of the Foundation lies in the areas of health and disability; education and vocational training; environmental issues relating to the better supply of food, clean water and sanitation; help and support for abused or street children; and emergency relief. All Vitol staff are encouraged to take an active involvement in the work of the Foundation by proposing projects throughout the world.
