Our responsibility to the Community
In addition to the benefits that our core business brings to the communities where we operate, we also make a substantive contribution to them through the Vitol Charitable Foundation (VCF).
The aims of the VCF are to initiate and support projects to meet the specific needs of and promote better living conditions for those vulnerable and at risk and those suffering from physical or emotional deprivation. To achieve this we actively support charities involved in health improvement and disability as well as the promotion of clean water and sanitation. We are also involved in raising the public awareness of children’s rights and the needs of the vulnerable and exploited children that suffer in various parts of the world. We actively promote the de-institutionalization of children and street child protection, in addition to foster care. Therefore we favour charitable activities including but not limited to the relief of poverty, the advancement of education and the provision of humanitarian relief in times of major disasters, for which we have a specifically designated emergency relief fund. Finally, we support other programmes that are beneficial to the community such as micro finance and natural resource management.
To fulfil these aims the VCF will employ all appropriate measures to identify, review and support projects and efforts that are aligned with our purpose.
In view of the nature and scope of our activities we work on a worldwide basis with our funds split across all continents but specifically the areas which are generally termed as “marginalised” and countries with a low GDP per capita.
The VCF is not open to unsolicited requests for charitable funding.
