Our activities are inextricably linked. The business is owned by
its people, so every facet is everyone’s concern. This instils a sense of partnership internally, and translates into excellent partnerships externally.

Natural Gas

Vitol has enjoyed well over a decade of robust trading performance in the Natural Gas sector of the UK and Europe.

In addition to the calibre of our people and the quality of our customer base, two key assets have underpinned our success in this area: extensive storage and pipeline capacity. Taken together, the two enable us to meet our customers’ requirements more dependably; for example, in the peak-demand months of winter.

Vitol approaches producer relationships with the same flexibility enjoyed by our crude oil customers, for example by offering pre-finance and off-take contracts.

On the supply side, we deliver gas to wholesalers and power utility companies in and around Europe, including the UK and Norway, with the key customer demand coming from Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.

Significant investments, such as our exclusive access to the full capacity of the third largest UK gas storage site in Hampshire, will help us to maintain and enhance our reputation of reliable supply when it’s needed.

In the US, our strategy is focused on the growing need for imported gas to supplement the increasing decline in domestic production. This effort entails sourcing and trading Canadian gas as well as facilitating the growing LNG trade around the US Gulf region. To meet this objective, Vitol is acquiring strategic storage assets in the area to service the new terminals for liquid natural gas.
